Lizzy Cooper represents PTF at conference

On February 17th, Lizzy Cooper’17 attended the Sowing Change: Promoting Food Access through Community Gardening conference at Bucknell University. She represented the Painted Turtle Farm, Gettysburg College’s own campus-community hub for food justice, on a panel with faculty and community organizers from Bucknell, Susquehanna, and the surrounding areas. In addition to comparing notes about the joys and challenges of running a campus community garden with other college students, Lizzy shared other ways in which Adams County is addressing food insecurity such as our Campus Kitchens project and Healthy Options program through the Adams County Food Policy Council. Hopefully, this conference be a jumping off point for the creation of a network of support and resources for community gardens across central Pennsylvania.
