Hello Gettysburg College Folks-
The Chesapeake Bay Foundation is having a large tree planting this Saturday in Westminster, MD and we are looking for more volunteers. It is about a 35 minute drive south from Gettysburg.
Can you please forward this on to other individuals and clubs that you think might want to participate?
Saturday, October 13th
9:00am – 1:00pm
Westminster, Carroll County, MD
This project is on a farm that is in a permanent agricultural easement located on Little Pipe Creek a tributary to the Monocacy River. The farmer is the head of the County Agriculture Preservation program and has recently fenced the cattle out of the stream and installed an off-stream water trough for the cattle. Volunteers will plant over 900 trees and shrubs to restore 2,500 feet of stream and a 5 acre riparian buffer. Partners include the Carroll County Soil Conservation District, the Maryland Department of Agriculture and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
This event is suitable for adults, families and community groups. Dress for the weather, refreshments will be provided. Registration is required. Contact Carmera Thomas, MDRestoration@cbf.org
